لقد خضع مجال التعدين في مقاطعات افريقيا خلال الفترة الرومانية، الى العديد من القوانين التي تؤطر وتقنن تلك الممارسات الاستخراجية، من بين تلك القوانين قانون Lex Metalli ، المتعلق بتسيير مناجم ومحاجر شمال افريقيا، وشتى انواع المواد الخام المستخرجة، ومجالات اخرى مختلفة. وتهدف هذه الدراسة الى تبيين امتداد تطبيق هذا القانون في مقاطعات الإمبراطورية الغربية وخاصة مقاطعات إفريقيا، مع توضيح للمعطيات الجديدة التي يقدمها القانون الروماني خصيصاً فيما يخص إدارة المناجم. حيث كان قانون Lex Metalli مرجعاً اساسياً لعمليات التعدين؛ في المناجم، المحاجر، المقالع والآبار الاستخراجية في شمال إفريقيا.

The field of mining in the provinces of Africa during the Roman period was subject to many laws that frame and codify these extractive practices, among those laws is the Lex Metalli Law, related to the management of North African mines and quarries, various types of extracted raw materials, and various other fields.
